Interfaith Teen Experiences

Join other Boston-area teenagers to learn about major world religions, experience a worship/prayer service, and ask questions. Talk with people from various faith traditions. Learn about what they believe and why. No pressure. No conversions.

Each month, you are invited to visit a different faith community. Youth leaders, religious leaders, and teens will welcome you and talk about their faith.

All middle-school and high-school students are welcome, as well as their families. Show up each month or just come to the experiences that you're most interested in.

Progressive Protestant Christian

First Congregational Church of Winchester

21 Church Street

Winchester, MA 01890

About our congregation: We are a Christ-centered, nurturing community, growing in faith, serving in love, welcoming all with joy. First Congregational Church is part of the United Church of Christ, a liberal Protestant denomination. It is not a political designation but a theological one. We are an Open and Affirming congregation: We welcome all people – regardless of race, age, ability, gender, sexual orientation, economic status, ethnicity and religious tradition – into full participation in the life of our church. We are committed to using inclusive language in our worship services, hymns, and prayers. We affirm the ideal that Christians do not always have to agree, in order to love God and live together in communion.

During your visit: Join a progressive Protestant Christian denomination, the United Church of Christ, for its annual Blessing of the Animals outside on the Town Common (across from the Church; feel free to bring your own animal). Afterward, join other teens at the Church for snacks, icebreakers, and information about the Church and denomination.

Reform Jewish

Temple Shir Tikvah

34 Vine Street

Winchester, MA 01890

About our congregation: Shir Tikvah is an informal, down-to-earth group of people with diverse backgrounds, personal histories, opinions, and interests. We cover the spectrum of religious orientations: secular Jews and deeply observant ones; believers, agnostics, and atheists; traditionalists and innovators. Whether you're Jewish by birth, Jewish by chosen identity, or not Jewish at all, everyone is on the same footing. At Shir Tikvah, everyone in your family is welcomed and valued, which means full inclusion in all facets of temple life.

During your visit: You are invited to participate in a Friday evening Shabbat service at 7:30 pm on November 9th.  Our choir, Shir Chadash, will be singing beautiful melodies under direction of our cantor, Beth Levin.  Come early at 6:45 pm for pizza and drinks as Beth; Bailee Star, our education director; and Cari Bricklin Small, our rabbi, explain some fundamental elements of our service.  You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have!
